Saint Patrick's Day is a great time to give gifts as it's a very festive holiday and gifts are very festive as well.

For example, if I'm invited to a St Paddy's Day party, I am sure to bring a gift.

If I visit an Irish friend anywhere near St Patrick's Day I bring a gift.

I give gifts to good Irish friends on St Patrick's Day, often instead of Christmas or birthdays!

And there are many more great examples!
A gift at this time of year is often a surprise, and that's the best type of gift. And of course you can give a gift to non Irish friends too who get into the spirit.
My Italian friend Bob, a fan of Guinness and Irish Pubs, was ecstatic when I gave him a bottle of Jameson's Irish Whiskey last Saint Patrick's Day! You should have seen the look on his face!
So what to give? Gifts are often very individualistic, so I can only offer suggestions.
I've already mentioned a good bottle of Irish Whiskey, for those who enjoy it. You don't want it to sit on shelve for years of course. It's for drinking!
Beer and Saint Patrick's day go together in most people's minds!
