Saint Patrick's Day is known world wide as a very big party, but in reality it is both a religious and secular holiday celebrating Saint Patrick, who lived between 385 and 461 AD. He is the best known patron saint of Ireland. In fact I can't think of another one nor can most people!
It's generally celebrated on March 17th Sometimes conflicts with Holy Week (Easter) will cause it to move but the next time this will happen is 2160, so plan on wearing green and drinking beer on March 17th for the rest of your life!
Celebrations can get pretty wild as many center around alcohol, especially beer as well as Irish Whiskey, and the color green.
Most people wear plenty of green on St Paddys day. Many cities dye their fountains, rivers, and certainly beer green for the event..
Why not bump it up a notch, and instead of simply wearing green, wear a green costume?
Not surprising, Leprechaun costumes are very popular, but you likely will be the only one wearing one!
